One of the subjects I enjoy teaching the most to entry level students, is everything related to dive planning, safety and the Recreational Dive Planner.
I always insist in the fact that you can never be safe enough. When you are out there diving around the world, and especially if you choose good, reputable dive operators, you can always be sure that the professionals planning and guiding your dives will always come out with safe and conservative dive profiles.
So most of the time you spend diving with real dive pros you are unlikely to pull out your RDP´s and double check if the divemaster´s plan is safe and accurate. But does it really hurt to check it anyway? I would say no.
